Latin America: The Thirsty Cities
(1993, 55 min 00 sec)

Abstract
Thirsty Cities looks at the problems related to water supply in Mexico City, Lima, Buenos Aires and Sao Paulo -- conservation, pollution and sanitation. These are great cities of Latin America with proud histories. They are different from North American and European cities, but also remarkably the same. Many of the water issues they are grappling with today are on the horizon for large cities everywhere.

Poundmaker's Lodge: A Healing Place
La Maison Poundmaker - La Voie de la guérison

(1987, 29 min 27 sec)

Abstract
Poundmaker's Lodge, named after a nineteenth-century Native leader, is a treatment center in St. Albert, Alberta, where Native people troubled by addiction to drugs and alcohol can come together for mutual support, to partake of healing rituals like the sweat lodge, and to rediscover their traditions. The film places Native alcoholism in its historical and socio-cultural contexts. It shows the despair of a people dispossessed of land, culture, language and dignity, and their strength and courage in overcoming substance abuse. (Awards: Columbus; Oakland.)

Richard Cardinal: le cri d'un enfant métis

(1986, 29 min 10 sec)

Abstract
A moving tribute to Richard Cardinal, a Métis adolescent who committed suicide in 1984. He had been taken from his home at the age of four because of family problems, and spent the rest of his seventeen short years moving in and out of twenty-eight foster homes, group homes and shelters in Alberta. A sensitive, articulate young man, Richard Cardinal left behind a diary upon which this film is based. (Awards: San Francisco; New York; Oakland; Parnu.)

L'Amérique latine: villes assoiffées
(1993, 55 min 00 sec)
