Finnish accordion adventurist Kimmo Pohjonen's singular mission is to expand the capabilities, sound, scope, performance and experience of the accordion to levels never before attempted, seen or heard. Accordion, voice, effects, surround sound and light show combine to make a unique and captivating performance event.

A visionary of boundless energy, Pohjonen's roots go back thirty years in all forms of accordion music including folk, dance, classical, rock, experimental, theatre music and more. His studies in the progressive and innovative Sibelius Academy Folk Music Department were a critical factor in Pohjonen's transition to the boldly creative and versatile musician / performer he is today. Currently, Pohjonen is simultaneously involved in numerous projects:

- Kimmo Pohjonen / Samuli Kosminen Kluster featuring sampling genius Samuli Kosminen (also known from work with Icelandic band MuM). Kluster will appear at the MIDEM music convention in Cannes on January 22, 2006 on a main stage showcase performance. Their album is released in Europe via Rockadillo and Westpark, the duo has toured througout Europe in folk, jazz, world, classical, contemporary and rock music festivals.

KTU is the double duo formation featuring Pohjonen / Kosminen Kluster with Texans Pat Mastelotto and Trey Gunn from King Crimson and the duo TU (pronounced "2"). Rolling Stone magazine:
"KTU (pronounced K2") …. avant-accordionist Kimmo Pohjonen ……and drummer Pat Mastelotto and guitarist Trey Gunn from King Crimson. Their debut 8 Armed Monkey , recorded live in 2004, is a robust tumult of Northern Lights sparkle, white-wolf guitar wail and rolling knotted thunder. Pohjonen is a wonder unto himself: animating his wind song with pedals and processing; attacking the bellows with the ecstatic fury of Jimi Hendrix. When I saw KTU play in Europe recently, they were as powerful and transgressive as the current killer Crimson (without, of course, Robert Fripp). But I was stunned to discover, after the show, that KTU have yet to get an American gig, because, Gunn said, promoters are afraid of the word "accordion". People, look at it this way: Pohjonen plays the ultimate in air guitar. Now hit the phone." (David Fricke, Rolling Stone).

- Kluster meets Kronos Quartet in the Uniko project featuring music composed by Pohjonen and Kosminen, commissioned by Kronos. Concerts in Helsinki, Moscow and Molde Jazz Festival were major successes. US and european dates now being planned for 2006/2007.
